Good Win for Men’s 2s at Deeside

Exciting hockey game in some place in the middle of the countryside an hour away from Liverpool. It was apparently “RAF” Tom´s last game of the season, and from the atmosphere in the dressing room before the game you had the feeling that it was going to be either an easy game, or one that was already lost. It was none of them. The opposition played decent hockey and they absolutely controlled the first 5-10 mins of the game.  Sefton´s defence was very solid, and after these initial threatening moments, the team started to counter attack dangerously through both wings. Owen Jones scored the first goal for Sefton halfway through the first half with a nice shot from the edge of the D, and minutes later Jorge Mowinckel Sagnier scored the second after a decent save from the keeper. Sefton could have gone to the half-time 0-3, but the post repelled a powerful shot from Owen or Jay (need confirmation).

Deeside started the 2nd half very aggressively, and it was only thanks to the defensive effort from Sefton that they only scored one of their multiple chances. However, shortly after their goal, Jorge finished a nice team play conducted by Dass/Bass reassuring the 2-goal difference for Sefton. When Deeside were desperate to score a goal that could give them some hope, Owen scored his second of the evening in another class shot from the edge of the D. The last 10 minutes of the game Sefton´s defence was outstanding, including some nice saves from the keeper. Final score 1-4 for Sefton after a thrilling hockey game!
