Liverpool Lacrosse U10 Tournament at Macclesfield – 13th April 2014

It was a lovely sunny Sunday when five Liverpool Junior players set off to the third tournament of the year. There were some new clubs but they were up for the challenge.

The team won three of the games convincingly, drew one and lost one against a well organised Mersey team. The first few games we leaked unnecessary goals as nobody wanted to be in defence. It is much more exciting scoring the goals!

Special mentions go to:

  • Chris who stuck to the task given to him and patiently waited in defence for most of the third game. It clearly paid off as we only let one goal in.
  • Harry who distributed the ball well and scored some excellent goals.
  • Libby who got into some fabulous positions.
  • Jamie who shows brilliant determination by chasing down every ground ball.
  • Our top goal scorer Christian. He scored 8 excellent goals as well as the unforgettable golf shot!
  • At last but not least Nathan who is definitely a player for the future!

The highlight of the day was when the boys realised the importance of including everyone. Up to the third game they were eager to score as many goals as possible but eventually the advice sunk in. They looked up and passed the ball to Libby who was in acres of space. She calmly netted the ball into the top corner. The special moment was when Jamie and Christian sprinted over to tap sticks in a memorable celebration.

The tournament was another success and juniors are moving from strength to strength. We started the season by running the ball from end to end and now we are choosing the most appropriate pass. With us aiming to head to the next tournament in a months’ time we still have things to work on. Our end of game cheer is the most important as this tournament Norbury definitely won that competition hands down!
