Men’s 1s Back to Winning Ways against Winnington!

A hard fought win for the boys in heat that put Aaron Robinson at risk of melting.

Naturally we went one nil down through a messy short corner. We were then down to 10 men as Chris Thomas received a yellow for taking down a ball above his head. (Insert your own jokes here).

We were jolted into life and a slick 5 man move ended with Gerard Killough slotting home at the back post.

A similar move a few minutes later switched the ball to Peter Maybury at the top of the D and he found the net.

The 2nd half followed a similar pattern with Sefton building in confidence but this was undone by yellow cards to goalie Simon and Aaron for mouth and high stick respectively.

Peter Kenyon donned the helmet and kept a 9 man clean sheet.  Not a bad effort from statistically the worst player in the club.

Once that storm was weathered Sefton pushed again and scored 2 more goals through Ped and James Ferguson – who finished off a 9 pass move despite wearing borrowed kit and shoes.

A positive performance resulting in a 4-1 win. Finishing the season on a high. One game to go….

PS  Despite speculation, there is no formal link between the fact that the men’s 1s conceded 7, 7 and 9 in the last 3 games when Will Chambers played but won today without him
