Mens 1s Draw with Stockport Bramhall

A 2-2 draw is a disappointing result for the lads. Our lazy play from Thursday carried into today’s game.

A lack of league umpires meant that James Robinson stepped in to help out – thanks James.

We were without Pod and Paul Harley today but started well, forced the play and were in front through Adrian Nash after a Messi-like run by Pedro.

Unfortunately that’s as bright as it got as a gift from Dangerous Brian Stewart led to an equaliser. Sefton had a goal disallowed for Adrian possibly bringing the ball over the backline before scoring.

1-1 at halftime and we knew that we needed to be less nice, play the simple ball and protect the ball in possession.

If anything the second half was worse withthe ball continually given away all over the pitch, a yellow for Stig (Andrew Duncalf) for some colourful language and a green for Peter Formela for offering advice to James.

Amongst all the chaos a scrappy break led to Peter Maybury bundling the ball home under/over the goalie somehow.

In true typical style Sefton over-committed to a further attack and were left light at the back.

A 2 v 1 led to their forward slotting home.  Sefton couldn’t string enough passes together to find a winner and the game came to a drab end.

Disappointing but we go again next week for the Valentine’s Day massacre versus West Derby.

Man of match was Aaron Robinson who seemed to be playing on a lower part of the pitch the way the ball was drawn to him;

DOD was a landslide for Anthony Davies.
