Men’s 1s lose to Lytham

A really disappointing result for the boys today following last week’s goal fest.

A windy and cold day similar to those in Lytham made matters difficult for both teams.

Sefton were without Gerard Killough and Adrian Nash (these rookies have no commitment).

A physical and frantic game was influenced by some unusual decisions. Yellow cards were shown to Stig (Andrew Duncalf) and Goalkeeper Simon. Ciggy (Paul Harley) donned a bib and played kicking back for 5 mins and kept a clean sheet but, alas, doesnt count for fantasy hockey. A green card was also shown to Brian Stewart. Brian’s other highlight was when he stopped the ball on our penalty spot, turned and ran straight towards our goal only for his defensive colleagues to spare his blushes with a goal line save.

The new system did provide space on the right side once again but the few chances created were skewed wide by Ciggy and a particular Ronnie Rosenthal type miss by Peter Maybury.

Bad day at the office but chins up – 6 games to go and 3rd place is still the focus.

MOM was Aaron Robinson and DOD was shared by Jake Herman and Simon.
