Men’s 1s Score Eleven!!!
The men’s 1s recorded their largest win for about 6 years on Saturday with a fine performance on the Wirral.
A new formation was unveiled by Skipper Jake Herman – apparently dreamt up in work on Thursday (the legal industry must be in decline)… Perhaps it’s a coincidence that it is a similar formation to that which Liverpool utilised so well on Tuesday.
Anyway, 3 centre backs is the way forward.
The game started brightly and Sefton were soon in front with a well worked short corner routine finished off by Peter Maybury.
Bebington fought back and took advantage of some open space. They managed to slot two goals in two minutes as Sefton had taken their foot off the pedal.
Team spirit is abundant amongst the lads at present and increased effort led to a strong finish to the half and 3 solid finishes from Gerard Killough (first half jug).
All the talk at halftime was that the formation was working, that Stig (Andrew Duncalf) and Ciggy (Paul Harley) had lots of space on the wings and that the next goal was important.
That goal arrived within a minute.
There was a comedy OG from Brian Stewart in his shiny new trainers but Sefton bossed the half and more goals came from Gerry, Jay Ashton, Adrian Nash, Ciggy and 3 from Ped.
Jakey now firmly believes that he is Jose Mourinho. Management may be the way forward for a striker who couldn’t score any of our 11 goals!
