Tennis Twitterings Week 1

A New Season – New Challenges – New Opportunities……..…..

Ladies A Team; The Ladies 1st team got off to a great start by beating our biggest rivals in the league Cressington Park.  Despite the howling wind and light flurry of hailstones we won 5 – 1.  Let’s hope we can continue the good work.

Ladies B Team; An incredible start to the season for the Ladies B team, not a set dropped! Some budding partnerships already forming with the newest addition Jenny R joining us and giving a great contribution to our magnificent win #proudaspunch.

Men’s A Team; The 1st team fought hard in testing conditions but ultimately went down 5-1 after some close matches to a strong Eccleston Park team. We hope to show a good response next week and await the return of some key players after injury layoffs.

Men’s B Team; A great 4-2 victory for the B team over local adversaries David Lloyd with matches not completing until 9:45! An even better result given that player availability resulted in plenty of desperate telephone calls, texts and shuffling of players between teams up until the last moment.

Men’s C Team: It may not make sense to celebrate a defeat, but given that we lost our first string late on, our 4-2 defeat to Widnes had more good points than bad. We have some key players returning next week and are looking forward to putting some points on the board.
