Tennis Twitterings Week 2

Captains Reports;

Ladies A Team; The ladies had a comfortable 5-1 win against Blundellsands team. The new 1st couple of Vicki Collins and Gill Griffiths are combining well and winning their matches comfortably. The 2nd couple of Helen Oakley and Anne Paramo, despite Helen’s amazing athleticism struggled against the 1st couple. The 3rd couple of Linda Coleman and Keiko Scott are the bulldogs of the team fighting for every point. Let’s hope the success continues.

Ladies B Team; No game until Friday so a double report next week from Mel.

Men’s A Team; We only had 4 players to take to Mossley Hill but still managed to secure a draw; Ben and Dan unlucky to lose a super tie break against their first pair in fading light that would have clinched a win against the odds. It was a shame not being able to field a full team but we will take the draw and move on.

Men’s B Team; Our ‘bit part team’ tried its best but unfortunately succumbed to a 0-6 defeat despite some valiant efforts, none more so than a young last minute replacement by the name of Mike to watch out for in the future no doubt…

Men’s C Team: Although severely depleted, the Fantastic Four only just missed out on a share of the spoils with a dramatic 10-8 super-tie break defeat in the last game of the evening spoiling a fantastic nights work. The team are confident that progress will be made and victories secured soon with six.

Social Tennis Continues to Thrive.

You may not be aware that tennis stalwart Eddie Puddifer hosts an ‘open to all’ social tennis session every Saturday starting at 2:30pm on the astro courts. The sessions are age and ability appropriate and the main aim of the sessions is to have fun and improve your game. Beginners are also more than welcome and group or individual coaching can be arranged if required.

The sessions are free and all Club members are invited to attend, so why not give it a bash?

Mixed Doubles Competition – Fancy the Challenge?

The Club is running a mixed doubles challenge competition during June and July that should contribute quite nicely to the summer tennis festivals both locally and in the capital.

The competition will involve 4 leagues of 3 teams all of whom will play one another. The top teams in each league will compete in a semi final match and the winners will then contest the final. We have a brand new trophy for the winners and will arrange for them to celebrate in style afterwards.

If you would like to enter please contact me on the email below. Whilst all games will start at 0-0, some degree of seeding will take place to ensure you enjoy your games. The closing date for entries will be 31st May 2017.
