Women’s 2s Aim For Fun!

Heading up to Blackburn we knew this was going to be a tough game, but instead of the focus being on winning, the focus of the game was to have fun and play some nice hockey.

This is exactly what we did from the first whistle. With some lovely passing, and defending when they broke, we managed to break into the attacking D, a short corner was won. With a shot straight towards the keeper by Jo, Jennifer McArthur stopped the ball just in front of the GK and passed to the post where Danielle Shields was and she slotted the ball into the back of the goal. 1-0 Sefton.

We managed to hold off pressure from Clitheroe and defended several short corners successfully. Unfortunately, their fast pace and skillful runs eventually led to them equalising. We continued to press them and try to attack but were unable to get any clear chances on goal. Their experience in the league and their pace gave them plenty of attacking opportunities. 4 more goals were conceded.

Final score 5-1 to Clitheroe and Blackburn.

Even though we lost we put up a good fight and everyone deserved player of the match. Well played girls!
