Women’s 4s win 9-0!

The women’s 4th team faced up against Formby in the first game of 2015. A win in this game would see the team cement their path in to the quarter finals of the Lancashire Cup, and having no goals against and no points dropped the run of things were greatly in our favour. We lined up against 9 “man” Formby and our aim became how we would hold the ball and make use of our extra bodies and space.

t I think I got 2, Eva and Emily got a 2 or 3 each, Izzy got 1, Holly got 1, Siobhan got 1 or 2? The most important aspect to take from the game was that we took our chances when they came and if it wasn’t for a really agile and active Formby keeper we would have got a few more! Everyone’s work rate was excellent, we had excellent runs from our wide midfield who kept those in the D well supplied with chances. Our forwards and midfield worked well to shut down the oppo and win back possession. The defence were alert and strong despite parts of the game not involving them and the break through runs from the central midfield and central defence carved up the pitch and aided the attack. All in all an excellent performance by all involved and a very well deserved score line. Eva was quite rightly awarded MOM, everyone was impressed by her bold play, smart runs and phenomenal passing. Well done, Eva! Next week we’re up against Formby all stars but if we can go out and play how we did for the majority of today’s game we’ll come away with the 3 points! Well done girls smile emoticonTo be perfectly candid we scored so many goals I can’t remember who scored them all, but I think I got 2, Eva and Emily got 2 or 3 each, Izzy got 1, Holly got 1, Siobhan got 1 or 2? The most important aspect to take from the game was that we took our chances when they came and if it wasn’t for a really agile and active Formby keeper we would have had a few more!
