In a true battle of good vs. evil, the armies of darkness lead by the irrepressible Darth Vedu (Garikipati) lost to the squeaky clean good-side under the leadership of Luca (Nutton) Skywalker in a hastily arranged friendly match on Liverpool’s lower ground on Friday evening.

The temperature was much cooler than it had been and parents wrapped up against the elements as the two sides fought neck and neck to claim the title of Masters of the Universe (or something like that).  In an early blow, the dark side had two early casualties as both Jar Jar (Lola) Roots and Ayman Calrissian failed to take the field due to an ongoing battle on the Forest Moon of Endor (who writes this stuff?), but the remaining troops fought valiantly as they battled to a respectable score of 268 (don’t remember that being in Star Wars) with Oliver Hallam bludgeoning his way to a top score of 19.  Bowling honours went to Denis the Menace Pearson with fine figures of 2-14.

In reply, Darth Vedu’s troops huffed and puffed but conceded a few too many wides as Luca Skywalker and Tom Harper helped them over the line to a score of 271.

The sight of the mighty Maxey Karim refusing to face the nervy final over was a sight to behold!

A fine evening was had by all, and thankfully balance has been restored to the universe, starting somewhere just outside Liverpool 19.
